Alexander Medical is a small business that is rapidly growing and in need of a confident medical assistant that is ready to learn and eager to join our team! We are collaborative, patient focused and the work environment is fun! This position will be involved in both front and back office duties.
Medical Assistant Duties &
Responsibilities:
Clerical Duties Front office duties for a MA include clerical duties such as answering phones and scheduling/rescheduling patient appointments.
They also greet patients and obtain their personal information such as address , driver license and health information.
They keep the office organized and stocked, allowing it to run more efficiently.
Patient charts are constantly changing with new information being added and old information removed.
A MA is responsible for assuring patient files are complete and intact before and after each visit.
Keeping an organized calendar is beneficial because it allows the staff to see how well time is managed.
Patient Data Collection Data collection involves accurately measuring and recording a patient's vital signs and obtaining the patient's medical history.
A medical assistant obtains patients medical history by asking questions about their medical conditions, medications, allergies and updated their history of present illness based on how they are feeling.
The MA records any findings into the patient charts and alerts the physician of the results.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
Act as a physician's secretary (Greet patients, answer phones, schedule appointments) Measure patient vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, temperature, height and weight) Order medical/office supplies and medications Perform billing tasks, confirm all patients are up to date on billing and process payments if necessary Administer oral and injectable medications Call or e-fax prescriptions to pharmacies Collect/update data - past medical history medical, surgical history and medications from patients Handle and route office mail Manage specialty referrals Provide patient education as directed by the doctor or other provider Stock and clean exam rooms daily and between patient visits and as necessary Interpret lab results to patients once they have been reviewed by the provider Follow up with patient's and respond to any communication we have received inbound.
Phlebotomy- Medical assistants are also responsible for blood draws and collecting samples for laboratory testing.
Medical assistants process samples.
They pack and ship samples to their appropriate destination.
Salary:
Rate of pay offered is dependent upon years of experience and skill set.
