Senior Accountant

We are Human Capital Strategies, a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) in Mesa, AZ; that means we are the Human Resources Department for 100-plus businesses in multiple states. We work hard and play hard supporting businesses with their payroll, taxes, benefits, human resources, and training & development needs.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant; the ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or an equivalent certification and work experience; proven abilities to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization. Specifically to include, but not limited to:

Knowledge of:
Multi-State tax entities
Payroll principles and practices
Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations for multi-state employer
Documenting procedures, streamlining and improving processes
Internal financial control practices
Financial record keeping practices
Customer service principles

Skill in:
Preparing, examining, or analyzing accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Developing, implementing, modifying, and document record keeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Computing taxes owed and preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
Maintaining or examining the records of government agencies.
Developing, maintaining, and analyzing budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Advising management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Directing general operations of payroll tax processing
Preparing bi-weekly payroll employees
Microsoft Office and applicable software
Accounting software as part of an HRIS system
Time management and the ability
Good customer contact skills and the ability to interact successfully with a variety of people in person and agencies, by email and by telephone
Leading and directing the performance of a team dedicated to the same ideals and eager to learn from a knowledgeable, professional individual

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
